Method

Leap years follow the Gregorian century rule

A Gregorian year is a leap year when it is divisible by 4, except years divisible by 100 are ordinary years unless they are also divisible by 400. The tool builds February 29 with browser Gregorian Date objects at local noon.

Accepted years

The browser controls accept 100 through 9999 for civil planning and examples, using the proleptic Gregorian calendar exposed by JavaScript.

Print path

Limits

This is not a historical jurisdiction converter. Regions adopted the Gregorian calendar at different times, so old local records need specialist calendar history.

The leap-year test uses the modern Gregorian rule. Browser JavaScript Date objects provide the underlying proleptic Gregorian date arithmetic used for weekday labels and the February 29 calendar panel.
