Times use the entered latitude, longitude and fixed UTC offset. Golden hour is modelled as sun elevation from -4 degrees to 6 degrees.

Limits

High-latitude dates may have missing crossings. Local horizon, terrain, refraction, weather and daylight-saving offset changes are not auto-detected.

Golden hour uses approximate sun elevation windows. Check local weather, terrain and safety before planning a shoot.

Method

Golden hour is estimated from solar elevation.

The tool uses NOAA-style solar declination and equation-of-time approximations to estimate when the sun crosses selected elevation angles. The printable sheet uses -4 degrees to 6 degrees for golden-hour planning and -0.833 degrees for civil sunrise and sunset.

Location matters

Latitude, longitude and UTC offset drive the local clock times. Daylight-saving changes must be represented by the offset you enter.

Truth boundary

Golden-hour timing is a planning estimate. Terrain, weather, haze, buildings and exact horizon height can change usable light.

CalculationTime uses browser date inputs, UTC-normalized day stepping, NOAA solar equation references and explicit elevation thresholds. The result is useful for planning, but it is not a field ephemeris or weather forecast.
